New greener future fund

We have a goal of achieving Net Zero by 2040. We are looking at how local charities and community groups can demonstrate how they can tackle biodiversity and carbon reduction, through education and innovation programs and initiatives. To support them we are introducing a new ‘Greener Future’ grant; the fund encourages community groups/charities to apply for funding that would tackle the following areas:

  • Increasing biodiversity

  • Environmental education

  • Carbon reduction

  • Zero carbon initiatives

Grants will be awarded to organisations who can demonstrate a commitment to enhancing and protecting our environment or a heritage site, introducing environmentally sustainable products or services, and, in doing so, contributing to the local environment or conservation areas. Examples could include an environmental community project; a school initiative involving children and parents or improving a conservation area to kick-start regeneration. We would particularly welcome applications that aim to provide educational initiatives to build sustainability and legacy in the above areas.

The fund will open for applications on the 2nd December for a period of two months, grants of up to £10,000 can be considered for organisations based and working within 5 miles radius of the airport. The application window will close 30th January 2023 with projects/initiatives being able to start by the end of April 2023.

The grant panel meets regularly and every year the Fund gives grants to local charities and non-profit organisations and community groups totalling £150,000. So, if you think your project deserves a financial boost, keep reading, and we’ll point you in the right direction.
