Disability Information

Terminal Facilities

Airport(075)

At London Luton Airport we have designed our access and facilities with disabled passengers in mind. Access to the terminal building is via revolving doors, which can be slowed down by use of a press button. There are also 2 "accessible" doors, ideal for customers with an assistance or guide dog.

Disabled customers requiring assistance into the terminal building are requested to use one of the Help Points. These are located in the Short Term Car Park or Drop Off Zone. There is also a Special Assistance Desk in the main terminal building.

Many telephones offer a number keypad and a touch screen. In addition there is Internet access and a facsimile facility. There are also lowered phones for wheelchair users in each phone bay.

Induction loops have been installed at many of the customer counters including the check-in desks and customer services desks.

There are also accessible toilets for disabled customers in all areas.

Boarding and Disembarkation procedures

Disabled customers must advise their airline in advance of any special requirements they may have to board and disembark the aircraft and during the flight.  They should also advise the check-in staff of their requirements so that special assistance can be confirmed.  Assistance by staff within the London Luton Airport terminal does not need to be pre-booked.

In the departure lounge there is a Special Assistance Waiting Area.  At check-in, staff will advise disabled customers of their pre-boarding time. Customers should ensure they are at the desk by the pre-boarding time so that they can be assisted to their aircraft, if required. Disabled customers facing difficulties using the stairs are requested to advise the staff at the check-in desk, so that alternative arrangements can be made.

Disabled customers flying into London Luton Airport can be assisted from the aircraft, if required.  Assistance is also available to collect baggage and to exit through the UK Border Agency Channels and on to the car park or public transport.  Assistance is also provided for passengers with walking difficulties or unable to manage stairs. This assistance must be booked with the airline in advance.
