Disability Information
Terminal Facilities
At London Luton Airport we have designed our access and facilities with disabled passengers in mind. Access to the terminal building is via revolving doors, which can be slowed down by use of a press button. There are also 2 "accessible" doors, ideal for customers with an assistance dog.
Disabled customers requiring assistance are requested to use one of the Special Assistance telephones sited in and around the terminal building. Free assistance can be provided to the check-in desk or from arrivals to the Short Term Car Park, terminal bus stops or taxi rank.
Many telephones offer a number keypad and a touch screen. In addition there is Internet access and a facsimile facility. There are also lowered phones for wheelchair users in each phone bay.
There are 2 wheelchair collection points within the main concourse, one at the side of the entrance doors and one at the side of the check-in desks. There is no charge for the use of these wheelchairs. In this area there is also a Special Assistance Waiting area. This is an ideal spot to leave disabled passengers in comfort while parking or collecting the car.
Induction loops have been installed at many of the customer
counters including the check-in desks and customer services
desks.
There are also accessible toilets for disabled customers in all
areas.
Boarding and Disembarkation procedures
Disabled customers are requested to advise their airline in advance of any special requirements they may have to board and disembark the aircraft and during the flight. They should also advise the check-in staff of their requirements so that final arrangements can be made. Assistance by staff within the London Luton Airport terminal does not need to be pre-booked.
In the departure lounge there is a Special Assistance Waiting Area. At check-in, staff will advise disabled customers of their pre-boarding time. Customers should ensure they are at the desk by the pre-boarding time so that they can be assisted to their aircraft, if required. Disabled customers facing difficulties using the stairs are requested to advise the staff at the check-in desk, so that alternative arrangements can be made.
Disabled customers flying into London Luton Airport can be
assisted from the aircraft, if required. Assistance is also
available to collect baggage and to exit through the Customs
Channels and on to the car park or public transport.
Assistance is also provided for passengers with walking
difficulties or unable to manage stairs. This assistance must be
booked with the airline in advance.
Car Parking
Designated disabled parking bays are available in the Short Term, Mid Term and Long Term Car Parks. The Mid Term and Long Term Car Parks are serviced by a fully accessible shuttle bus. There are also Help Points in each car park, enabling passengers to call for free assistance. If you are travelling with a motorised wheelchair, please contact NCP on 01582 395484 or 07734 595560 for car parking advice.
Pre-booking discount is available if you book online.
Hire Car Facility
The Hire Car building is fully accessible with a Special
Assistance Help Point, where staff can assist disabled customers to
complete documentation. Shuttle buses are also fully accessible for
access to and from the terminal.
Set Down Procedures
The short term car park has designated parking bays for the disabled. Blue Badge holders can park here with the first 60 minutes free of charge. Customers wishing to take advantage of this concession should take their disabled parking badges to the NCP payment desk within the Onward Travel Centre in the terminal building for validation and leave their parking clock on show within the vehicle.
A phone is available at the Special Assistance Help Point to enable disabled customers to call for free assistance to the terminal building. Photocopies of Blue Badges are accepted but the original must be shown to a member of NCP staff.
Passengers can also be dropped off in the set down area though
due to security restrictions this area has limited designated
disabled parking bays. Vehicles cannot be left unattended in
this area and the waiting time is up to 10 minutes. Any overstay
will result in financial penalties.
