General Security Awareness Training (GSAT)

The Department for Transport has implemented mandatory General Security Awareness Training (GSAT) for all staff requesting a Restricted Zone Security ID Pass. The current regulations are as follows:

  1. Initial ID Pass Applications: Effective from January 28th 2008 ALL staff who require an initial Restricted Zone Security ID Pass must undergo GSAT training and obtain a completion certificate which must be submitted with the application.
  2. Renewal Applications: Effective from January 28th 2008 ALL staff who are renewing their Restricted Zone Security ID Pass must undergo GSAT training and obtain a completion certificate which must be submitted with the application.
  3. Existing Staff: All remaining staff that do not fall into category 2, and who are in possession of a Restricted Zone Security ID Pass must complete a GSAT course, and present their certificate to the Security ID Unit before 19th January 2009.

Any person who does not complete and provide the ID Unit with a GSAT certificate before January 19th 2009 will have their ID Pass stopped, and will be unable to gain entry into the Restricted Zone until such time as they provide a certificate.

GSAT training is available commercially through a number of different companies. To obtain a list of companies, click here to visit the Department for Transport website.

Each company who operates from London Luton Airport must submit an example of the GSAT certificate from their chosen company, which we keep on file.

A GSAT certificate will be required every time an employee renews a Security ID Pass regardless of the length of time the pass was valid for.
