Frequently Asked Questions

Topic: ID Unit

Q: How do I obtain a Criminal Record Certificate?

A:

A person requiring access into the Restricted Zone must be in receipt of a valid Criminal Record Check at Basic Disclosure Level when their application is submitted to the ID Unit.

Applications should be made to Disclosure Scotland and can either be made in paper format or using the application form on Disclosure Scotland's web site:   www.disclosurescotland.co.uk

When the applicant receives their Criminal Record Certificate they must hand it to their Authorising Officer.  The Authorising Officer must check the certificate to ensure that the applicant has no disqualifying criteria. If there is no disqualifying criteria they must also complete a Criminal Record Check Verification form (Form Ref: PA7) and submit this with the application.

The applicant must bring their certificate with them when they collect their Security ID Pass.

A certificate is only valid for a period of 10 weeks from the date of issue. Certificates that are out of date will not be accepted.

The Criminal Record Certificate remains the property of the applicant and will be returned to them when they collect their Security ID Pass.
