Frequently Asked Questions

Topic: ID Unit

Q: What is the role of the Authorising Officer?

A:

The Authorising Officer is responsible for managing the Security ID Pass application process within their company, or section of the business.  The Authorising Officer certifies that they have ensured the applicant has been recruited, interviewed and their background verified in compliance with current Department of Transport requirements.

It is their responsibility to ensure the ID Unit is kept up to date on changes to existing Security ID Pass holder's details.  They are also responsible for obtaining references and other documents (for example CRC) relating to new applicants, and for verifying all aspects of the Security ID Pass application.
