Q. What about periods of unemployment?
Answer:
Any gaps within the employment or education history of more than 14 days must be covered with a declaration from the applicant and a back up statement. You will need to complete a Gaps in Employment Form (Ref: IDU13).
If you were registered with a Benefit Office, a letter is required from them detailing the exact dates.
If you were not claiming benefit, a back up statement will be required from an independent referee confirming the dates of unemployment and that benefit was not being claimed. This statement cannot be from any of the following:
- Someone who resides at the same address you
- A referee who has already supplied an employment or education reference
- A relative
