Q. What if the company I worked for is no longer operating?

If a company or educational establishment has closed down, or records no longer go back to the applicant's period of employment, the gap must be covered by a Self Declaratation Form (Ref IDU7)

and accompanied with a back up statement. The back up statement covering the period of employment must be obtained from the Inland Revenue or alternatively the appointed administrators if applicable.  If neither of the above is forthcoming then either a sworn statement from a solicitor or letter from someone who can confirm your employment will be acceptable.
