Airport charity partnership tops £100k
Published: 31 January 2014
A two year partnership between London Luton Airport and Sue Ryder has now ‘landed safely’ and has been heralded as a resounding success.
The partnership initially set out to raise £80,000 by the end of 2013 in support of Sue Ryder’s fantastic work. Surpassing the target, the partnership raised more than £100,000 which in real terms means more than 12,000 hours of incredible care could be provided by Sue Ryder.
During the past two years staff members worked together and held fundraising events both locally and internationally. Highlights included the Airport’s ‘Meet The Buyer’ networking event, which raised over £6,000 and a bike ride to Paris which saw 19 cyclists, including the Airport’s Operations Director, riding 328 miles to raise a staggering £35,000.
After a quick ‘refuel’ Sue Ryder is getting ready for the return trip as the Airport’s Charity Partner for 2014 and 2015. Testament to the value placed on the work Sue Ryder does in the local community, it has been voted by staff and members of the public to remain the Airport’s charity partner, for 2014 and 2015, promising to help deliver even more incredible care.London Luton Airport would like to thank all staff, passengers and supporters who have made the partnership such a success and look forward to once again working with Sue Ryder to help provide invaluable care and services in the local community.
