Passengers get a new view at London Luton Airport
Published: 03 April 2014
London Luton Airport has announced the five winning artists from its recent Gateway Gallery competition.
The artists, all of whom are based in the Three Counties, will have the opportunity to showcase their work in the Airport’s exhibition space over the coming months, treating passengers to a collection of stunning contemporary art that explores textures, colours and patterns.
Judges selected the winners based on their ability to demonstrate creativity, aesthetics, originality, visual impact and utilisation of the space. The Gallery, delivered in partnership with Luton Culture, is now in its 7th year of showcasing local talent and located in the main terminal building adjacent to the Onward Travel Centre. Each artist will exhibit for two months in the Gallery, giving them exposure to an average of 25,000 passengers travelling through the Airport daily. The five winning local artists who will display their work over the coming months are:
Joanna Atherton (Artwork pictured above)
Adrian Hobbs, Paul Rackham, Pete Stammell, Conny Anderson, Steve Lynn
