London Luton Airport announces Sue Ryder as New Charity Partner for 2012 and 2013

The public has voted Sue Ryder as the new London Luton Airport Charity Partner for 2012 and 2013. The Airport has pledged an initial donation of £5,000 to the charity and employees will work closely with the team at Sue Ryder to involve staff and passengers in fundraising activities throughout the year.
Sue Ryder has been providing life enhancing care for its patients and their loved ones in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire for the last 40 years. Funds raised from the partnership will go towards supporting Sue Ryder’s valuable care in the community at the charity’s specialist care centres, Stagenhoe and St John’s Hospice. Stagenhoe is a 44 bedded residential unit that cares for people with complex neurological conditions such as Huntington’s disease, brain injury and multiple sclerosis. St John’s Hospice is a 15 bedded hospice that provides specialist palliative care for people with cancer, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis and other life-changing conditions.
Siân Pearce, Community Relations Executive at London Luton Airport said: "We are delighted that the public has chosen Sue Ryder as the new London Luton Airport Charity partner. The poll received over 7000 votes with Sue Ryder securing 38% of the vote to become our new charity partner. We would like to thank the other charities for their participation and staff, passengers and the public for voting. We are looking forward to working with Sue Ryder this year and next to support their valuable work in the community.
