Brighter Skies Forecast from London Luton Airport
Published: 27 August 2009
London Luton Airport is expecting close to 145,000 passengers to travel through the Airport over the August Bank Holiday period; one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Sun destinations remain hugely popular as families get away from the poor UK weather to have a well earned summer holiday. Aside from the ever popular south of France, Spanish mainland, and Balearic and Canary Islands, growth destinations this year include Bulgaria, Egypt, Romania, and Turkey all outside of the euro zone, with holidaymakers taking advantage of the strong sterling exchange rate.
City breaks continue to be popular including such destinations
as Dublin, Barcelona, Milan, Paris, Prague, and Vienna with
passengers taking advantage of the extensive route network and low
fares on offer from London Luton.
To ensure passengers have a smooth journey through check-in and
security search, London Luton Airport has a special advisory
feature on its website home page for passengers who may be unsure
about what they can take on board an aircraft.
Passengers will be advised of the restrictions on liquids in
hand baggage and that strictly one piece of hand baggage per
passenger is allowed.
Simon Harley, Airline Manager, London Luton Airport, said, "With a
constantly expanding network of routes now making up over 100
destinations, we continue to serve the requirements of both the
business and leisure traveller. With the UK weather remaining poor
we are delighted to offer the UK public an opportunity to at last
see the sun".
