Wizz Air appetiser for Hungary Londoners on the move
Published: 03 July 2008
Wizz Air, the largest low fare airline based in Central and Eastern Europe has teamed up with the Hungarian National Tourist Office to promote flights to Budapest from London Luton Airport.
The outdoor campaign uses 12 branded taxis to promote 'Hungary -
a love for life' with two stunning visual displays, one on either
side of each taxi. One side depicts classical musicians
against a background of 'Hungary for Culture' and, in stark
contrast, the other side features young people partying; 'Hungary
for fun'. The taxi campaign will run for a 12 month
period.
To capitalise on the exciting destination artwork on the outside of
the taxi Wizz Air has branded the tip-up seats inside and feature
actual flight offers based on flights from London Luton to Budapest
from just £28.
The campaign, which kicked off in June, has already received very
positive feedback with taxi drivers and their passengers commenting
on the interesting artwork.
The number of nights spent in Hungary by UK visitors from January
to March this year has risen by over 30% compared to the previous
year, almost certainly driven in part by the fantastic Wizz Air
flight offers available.
Wizz Air operates a young fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft from 8
bases on over 100 routes and carried a total of 4.2 million
passengers in 2007. The airline offers flights to 12 destinations
in 5 countries from London Luton and is the airport's third largest
airline.

carrying over 10 million passengers, an increase of nearly 400 per
cent over the last decade. Employing close to 500 staff, the

major base for 'low cost' or 'no frills' air travel.
EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Monarch, Thomsonfly, SkyEurope, Aer
Arann, XL Airways, Flybe and Thomas Cook operate from the airport,
departing to over 90 destinations including services to Europe,
Africa, and Asia.
The airport is operated and developed by a consortium of which
Abertis Infraestructuras, a leading European infrastructure
provider, is a 90 per cent majority shareholder and Aena
Internacional, the international business arm of Aena- the Spanish
national airport and air traffic control organisation, is a 10 per
cent shareholder.
In January 2008 London Luton Airport launched its Community
Engagement Strategy, which set out the Airport's formal commitments
to the community up to 2012. The strategy focuses on three
action areas, 'A Better Environment', 'A Vibrant Neighbourhood' and
'A Growing Economy', identifying priority programmes in each
one.
