Published: 10 March 2009

London Luton Airport today announced the winner of its Business Travel Survey Prize Draw, conducted in association with The Chamber. The lucky winner, Paul Stallard, Managing Director of Gosprey Ltd, a local commercial cleaning company, won £1,000 to spend on a holiday of his choice departing from London Luton Airport.

The survey, distributed to Chamber members via email, asked business travellers to provide valuable feedback to the Airport on the current facilities and also new services such as Priority Lane and Priority Parking.  The survey also looked at the business travel needs of Chamber members with the aim of improving the range of flights offered from London Luton.  The information provided will help develop transport links that support growth and trade across the Region.

All those completing the survey were entered into a free holiday prize draw to win a holiday up to the value of £1,000 flying from London Luton, with arrangements made by the airport's own direct travel shop www.londonlutondirect.com

Paul Stallard, Managing Director, Gosprey Ltd commented 'I travel through London Luton on business and leisure and was delighted to be rewarded with such a great prize, just for providing my opinion!'

Elliott Renton, Finance Director, London Luton Airport and member of The Chamber board of directors said; 'We are delighted to present Mr. Stallard with the £1,000 prize, as a valued business passenger his feedback together with all of the entries provides us with great insight into the requirements that businesses have of their local Airport.  Our collaboration with The Chamber is key to us being able to make our business product relevant to the Region, supporting growth within the regional economy.'

London Luton Airport is one of the UK's largest airports now carrying over 10 million passengers, an increase of nearly 400 per cent over the last decade.  Employing close to 500 staff, the airport is a major economic driver for the region, as well as a major base for 'low cost' or 'no frills' air travel.

EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Monarch, Thomson Airways, SkyEurope, transavia.com, Aer Arann, Flybe and Thomas Cook operate from the airport, departing to over 95 destinations including services to Europe, Africa, and Asia.

The airport is operated and developed by a consortium of which Abertis Infraestructuras, a leading European infrastructure provider, is a 90 per cent majority shareholder and Aena Internacional, the international business arm of Aena, the Spanish national airport and air traffic control organisation, is a 10 per cent shareholder.

In January 2008 London Luton Airport launched its Community Engagement Strategy, which set out the Airport's formal commitments to the community up to 2012.  The strategy focuses on three action areas, 'A Better Environment', 'A Vibrant Neighbourhood' and 'A Growing Economy', identifying priority programmes in each one.

The London Luton Airport Annual Report, published in January 2009, outlines new and more challenging commitments for Community Engagement in 2009 that include a 5% increase in recycling, commitment to a £50,000 Airport 'Community Fund' and employee training that will ensure 70% of all London Luton Airport Operations Ltd. managers and supervisory staff complete NVQ Level 2 personal development training.
