London Luton Airport raises over £42,000 for Keech Hospice Care
Published: 19 January 2011
London Luton Airport wishes to congratulate its employees for raising over £42,000 for local charity Keech Hospice Care as their Charity of the Year for 2010. This total surpassed 2009’s excellent effort by a considerable margin, when £36,000 was raised for the same charity.
Airport employees were active throughout the year supporting the charity, through a variety of fundraising and volunteering events including a midnight walk, quizzes, raffles, cake baking, volunteering and two employees even undertook a trek to India to raise much needed funds for the hospice.
Mike Keel, Interim Chief Executive at Keech Hospice Care said:
‘Keech Hospice Care has been delighted at the support we have received from London Luton Airport as their Charity of the Year for 2009 and 2010. The Hospice relies on the support of the community and the businesses in our area to be able to provide vital care and support to the families who need us and airport employees have raised an astonishing sum through their enthusiasm, commitment and energy. On behalf of the patients, families and staff at Keech Hospice Care, I would like to thank everyone involved at the Airport and I wish them every success with their new chosen charity.’
Sian Pearce, Community Relations Executive at London Luton Airport said;
‘London Luton Airport has thoroughly enjoyed working in partnership these past two years with Keech Hospice Care, whose dedication and hard work provides a vital service to the community. We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Airport employees who have shown commitment and enthusiasm in raising such a large sum of money for this worthwhile local cause.’
