The Pasque Charity is Announced as Airport Charity of the Year 2009

Published: 10 December 2008

London Luton Airport has announced it will be supporting The Pasque Charity as its chosen Charity of the Year for 2009. The campaign was launched with an initial donation of £10,000, handed over during a festive evening at The Pasque where representatives from the Airport helped to put up Christmas decorations at the Children’s Hospice.

The Airport's Charity Committee aims to multiply the initial donation, working closely with fundraisers from the Charity, to involve staff and passengers alike in a myriad of entertaining fundraising activity across the Airport site.

The Pasque Charity provides specialist palliative care for adults and children with life-limiting conditions and the multi-professional approach offered by The Pasque Charity involves medical, nursing, social, spiritual and emotional care and is provided 24 hours-a-day, every day of the year. The Pasque Charity operates two hospice services - The Pasque Adult Hospice and Keech Cottage Children's Hospice, which are both located together within beautiful countryside just north of Luton.

Simon Earles, London Luton Airport's General Manager: Planning & Corporate Social Responsibility said "The Pasque Charity is an organisation close to many Airport employees' hearts and it is a great pleasure to be able to make a contribution to the amazing work that the organisation undertakes. We sincerely hope to add significantly to our initial donation through fundraising activities with employees and passengers throughout the year to make a real difference to this outstanding charity.'

Chief Executive of The Pasque Charity, David White, said: "We are delighted that London Luton Airport have chosen the Pasque to be Charity of the Year in 2009. This is a very exciting opportunity for our organisation and will mean a great deal to our adult and children's hospices in the future. We are already working closely with Airport staff to explore ways in which we can offer our support for the adoption."
