London Luton Airport launches community appeal

London Luton Airport has launched a community-wide appeal to help the flood victims in Pakistan.

Local people are being encouraged to collect dried food items and new blankets to support the most vulnerable people in the run up to winter. London Luton Airport will be co-ordinating the packaging of aid parcels and will arrange for these to be flown direct to Pakistan. The Ummah Welfare Trust, a registered charity, will take responsibility for distributing the goods in Pakistan, ensuring the aid reaches the places where it is most needed.

The Luton-wide collection will start from Monday 22nd November with a final donation date of the 13th December.  During this time donations can be made at any of the following community drop off points:

DROP-OFF POINTS:

• Farley Community Centre
• Saints Community Centre
• Bury Park Community Resource Centre
• Hockwell Community Centre
• Raynham Way Community Centre
• Bushmead Community Centre
• Putteridge Junior School (8:30 - 15:30 weekday)

The items that are desperately needed are:

• Rice           2KG
• Sugar         1KG
• Lentils        2KG
• Dry Milk       400gms
• Salt           1KG
• Spices (Basra) ½ KG
• Biscuit        Packets
• Dry Chick Peas 400gms
• Dettol Soap          
• Vaseline                
• Blankets (medium sized must be new and packaged)

Please note the drop off centres will only be able to accept these items.
