Airport volunteers transform facilities at Bedfordshire and Luton Mind

Published: 11 October 2011

A team of enthusiastic volunteers from London Luton Airport got handy with their paint brushes recently to support local mental health charity Bedfordshire and Luton Mind.

The team volunteered to give a facelift to one of the activity rooms at the charity’s Dumfries Street premises by repainting the room in bright modern colours.

The renovation of the room will provide a fresher, smarter area for members of the community who use the facilities for a range of activities. The room is also being developed as an Information Point for the general public to access wellbeing information and support.

Sian Pearce, Community Relations Executive at London Luton Airport and one of the willing volunteers, said ‘It was a worthwhile day, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole team. The room looks so much brighter and we were delighted to have the opportunity to improve the environment for Mind service users.’

Jo Overton, Centre Facilitator at Bedfordshire and Luton Mind said: “We are all so pleased with how fresh and clean our activity room looks. Thanks to London Luton Airport volunteers many people will now benefit from using a very pleasant space”.

London Luton Airport employees undertake volunteering activities across the local community, working with schools, community groups and charities as part of its wider community relations programme.
