easyJet passenger numbers rise to 50m each year

London Luton Airport wishes to congratulate easyJet, the UK's largest airline, upon reaching the milestone of 50 million passengers per year.
The Airport is proud of its long association with the airline, which has seen phenomenal growth since it began operating in 1995 with just two aircraft from London Luton to becoming what it is today, one of the largest airlines in Europe, operating 196 aircraft on 552 routes, across 30 countries.
Glyn Jones, Managing Director of London Luton Airport said:
“On behalf of London Luton Airport and all our staff, I wish to offer our congratulations to easyJet, for reaching the 50 million passengers per year point, a phenomenal achievement in such a relatively short time. London Luton Airport is proud of its historic association with easyJet, as the first Airport from which it operated and the site of their present day headquarters. It gives us particular pleasure to learn that the 50 millionth passenger flew from London Luton.’
