A flying start to 2012 at London Luton Airport with Adria Airways
Published: 02 February 2012
After becoming ‘London’s fastest growing airport’ in 2011, today marked a new high point for London Luton Airport and the region as Slovenia’s national flag carrier, Adria Airways, announced they will commence flights to the airport.
The Star Alliance member will commence four flights per week from London Luton to Ljubljana from Sunday 25 March 2012, opening up new trade and tourist routes between Luton and the South East and the Slovenian capital.
Airport Managing Director, Glyn Jones, said “The launch of this Adria Airways service to Ljubljana with its convenient onward connections to more than 15 European cities and Balkan destinations such as Pristina, Tirana & Skopje is very exciting. It means we are able to continue to make London Luton the passengers’ preferred choice, by offering more routes than ever before, offering great value for money travel, and quick and easy transport links. The airport is going from strength to strength, and we are delighted that Adria Airways is here to join in with our success.”

Adria Airways
The Slovenian airline Adria Airways has a wealth of experience spanning over 50 years in charter and scheduled air traffic. Today the majority of Adria Airways business is in scheduled flights; its network links Ljubljana with more than 15 cities throughout Europe. Today Adria Airways operates the flights with 13 aircraft: one Airbus A320, two Airbus A319, four Canadair Regional Jet CRJ900, six Canadair Regional Jet CRJ200. In August 2004 Adria Airways was one of the first airlines to receive IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) Registration which determines the level of organization of the company, its operating procedures and also the flight safety and security of the company. Adria Airways' JAA Flight Training Organization has more than 30 years of experience with professional pilot training and is also the largest Flight Training Organization in the Republic of Slovenia.
As a long-term partner of major European airlines, particularly of Lufthansa, in December 2004 Adria Airways was accepted as a regional partner into the strongest strategic airline grouping, Star Alliance, which demonstrates that we are a reliable and high-quality carrier. In this way we have also clearly set out our business model as a network carrier offering global services. In January 2010 Adria Airways became a full member of Star Alliance.
