Any proposed changes to the structure of airspace must follow the Civil Aviation Authority’s airspace change guidance which is known as CAP1616. This sets out the requirements for how we undertake an airspace change, including engagement and consultation with stakeholders.

This document sets out the requirements for anyone wanting to make a change to the airspace. It contains a number of detailed steps that must be followed, with CAA’s approval required at the end of each stage in order to progress. The seven stages are detailed below.
