It’s not something we compromise on

As the UK’s fifth busiest airport and the area’s biggest employer, we have a responsibility to reduce the risk of accidents and incidents, of ill health to all staff, third parties, business partners and members of the public.

To help us, we’ve implemented a robust safety management system, and the essence is outlined in our Health & Safety Policy outlined below.


Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policy 

LLAOL is committed to protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone affected by our activities. We aim to provide a safe, healthy and supportive environment and promote an open wellbeing culture that enables our people to thrive. Our approach reflects our values of being ambitious, trusted, friendly, professional and inclusive, and supports our goal of delivering a secure and seamless experience for our guests. 

We promote openness and fairness, focusing on identifying and reducing physical and psycho-social risks, and encouraging a just and fair culture where people feel confident to raise concerns, report events and share learning, knowing they will be treated consistently, respectfully, and fairly.

We seek to ensure that we will:

  • Demonstrate effective leadership and communication in Health, Safety and Wellbeing at all levels through positive behaviours and robust risk governance.

  • Assign and document clear roles and responsibilities, encouraging active employee engagement.

  • Provide safe and healthy working conditions to prevent injury, ill health and psychological harm.

  • Identify hazards and eliminate them, or reduce their risk of causing harm, where reasonably practicable.

  • Meet all applicable legal and regulatory health and safety requirements, with clear accountability at all levels.

  • Establish and maintain a framework for setting and reviewing health, safety and wellbeing objectives.

  • Engage, consult and collaborate with employees and stakeholders on matters affecting health, safety and wellbeing.

  • Integrate health, safety and wellbeing into business planning and decision-making processes.

  • Promote open reporting of hazards and near misses, ensuring concerns are addressed fairly.

  • Promote and support mental health through early intervention, access to wellbeing resources and reducing stigma.

  • Ensure contractors, suppliers and partners meet our Health, Safety and Wellbeing standards.

  • Embed safety in our design approach through proactive and proportionate risk management measures.

  • Provide and maintain safe plant and equipment, ensuring the safe handling and use of substances.

  • Develop and deliver effective business continuity and emergency planning arrangements.

  • Apply a fair, learning‑focused, Just Culture approach to incident reporting and investigation.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive and proactive culture of health, safety and wellbeing.

  • Provide employees and contractors with the information, training and resources needed for safe work.

  • Continually improve our Health & Safety Management System and performance.

This Policy Statement sets out LLAOL’s commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing and is reviewed annually and made available to relevant interested parties. Roles, responsibilities and arrangements for delivery are defined within the Health & Safety Management System and supporting policies and procedures.
