MAIN PURPOSE OF POST:
The Network Engineer role is part of the IT Infrastructure team, which focuses on delivering projects related to the maintenance and development of the airport’s server and network infrastructure, in addition to supporting the delivery of various business-wide projects.
The Networks Engineer role is responsible for designing, maintaining, and supporting the networking infrastructure in both on-premise and Cloud environments, including switching, routing, encryption, security, VoIP and wireless.
This role is suitable for those in an existing Network Engineer role working in a medium to large business
MAIN DUTIES WILL INVOLVE THE FOLLOWING:
• Executing critical activities associated with maintaining network infrastructure performance, stability, and security.
• Management of firewall policies, review of the overall network infrastructure and ensure there are no potential risks or vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate on new high and low-level designs and implement updated networking services to maintain the IT service and support business initiatives (switching, routing, firewalling, VPN, WAN).
• Design and implement best practices for network management and maintenance activities to ensure network stability, performance, and optimization between on-prem and Cloud networks.
• Ensure network monitoring services are in place on all network devices to proactively identify and address network problems and vulnerabilities.
• Ensure patching and backups of all network devices is maintained.
• Produce maintenance plans, support documentation for the network and provide training for the handover to IT support teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues when escalated from IT Support teams.
• Member of the infrastructure on-call rota.
• Duty of care to proactively manage the health, safety, and wellbeing of direct reports, in line with the relevant policies and procedures, and implement support accordingly.
KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
Essential
• Experience of working as an IT Network Engineer in a fast place environment conducting infrastructure maintenance, design, implementation, migration, and replacement.
• Hands-on experience with HPE Aruba networking products is essential.
• Experience of investigating and solving faults on LAN & WAN infrastructure in a corporate environment on multiple platforms including HPE, Fortinet, Cisco etc.
• Hands on experience with virtualized and Cloud-based networking (VMWare and Azure).
• Hands-on experience of implementing network and system monitoring / alerting solutions.
• Good understanding of network management and monitoring tools and packet capture techniques.
• Hands-on experience of data storage systems, Storage Area Network (SAN) technology (specifically EMC DELL technologies).
• Hand on experience with security tooling (Anti-Malware, IDS/IPS, CASB, email security gateways, security analysis tools, web security tools, next generation firewall/UTMs).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Server & Desktop Operating Systems.
• Excellent collaboration skills to effectively work with colleagues, users, and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Willing to invest time, effort, and energy to learn & develop new skills and capabilities.
• ASCP or equivalent HPE Aruba certification.
• All relevant permits to work in the UK and security clearances (up to or over CTC).
Desirable
• IT Qualifications / Certifications such as CompTIA CySA+, CASP, BCS CISMP, CCSP, SSCP, CISSP or CISM qualification or similar or equivalent experience/qualifications
• Project management certification such PRINCE2, APM, PMP etc.
• Familiarity with Network Automation Tools.

You will be required to pass a range of referencing and vetting checks, including a Criminal Record Check and for certain roles a Counter Terrorism Check. You must also have lived in the UK for at least 3 years with a 5-year work history, unless in education.
