Getting on board
Our Special Assistance team can get you to your plane and help you on board.
So, once you’re through Security, please make yourself known in the Special Assistance Waiting Area in departures.
Make sure you’re there 1 hour before your scheduled departure time so that your Special Care Assistant can help you in good time.
Boarding with your mobility aid
You can take your mobility aid all the way to the plane if you need to, but it’ll have to be immobilised before it’s loaded into the aircraft hold. We can help you with this, but it’s best if customers, or their companions, are fully familiar with the immobilisation procedures.
A guide to immobilising EMA’s can be found here.
Vehicle transport to and from aircraft
London Luton Airport does not have any link bridges (aka jet bridges, satellites).
If you are unable to manage stairs, you will need to book the lift on and off service with your airline and the Special Assistance team.
After booking assistance, an ambulift or high-rise vehicle will be allocated to assist you onto the aircraft. If you have booked assistance but can manage the aircraft stairs, you may be assisted in a minibus instead.
Note: Please be aware, that if you can manage the stairs but another customer requires the use of the lift on the vehicle, then you will both be assisted in the lift on the vehicle.
