Duration: 3 Days

This HSE nationally recognised First Aid at Work qualification provides three days of classroom and practical time. It goes further than the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification by preparing you to deal with additional types of illness and injury.

This qualification meets the requirements of those working in more hazardous environments such as construction, warehousing, food processing, or if you work with a large number of people. Successful candidates are awarded the nationally approved First Aid at Work qualification. No previous experience is required to take part in this course.
 

What’s covered on the course?

  • The role and special considerations of the first aider
  • Vital Signs
  • Incident Procedure – The Primary and Secondary Survey
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Practical use of a defibrillator / AED
  • Record keeping and first aid kit advice
We also look at how to recognise and deal with:
  • Collapse
  • Seizures
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Injuries to bones, muscles, joints, spinal injury
  • Chest injuries
  • Eye Injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Anaphylactic Shock
  • Minor and major illness, including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes.


Assessment

Candidates are assessed by FAIB Approved trainer continuously with a practical skills and theory test on the third day by FAIB independent assessor.

Certification

FAIB and FOFATO approved qualification as required under the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 (And in accordance with current first aid practice).

Valid for three years with annual refresher advised.
