Security Scanners at London Luton Airport
Here at LLA, your wellbeing is our priority
At London Luton Airport, your safety and well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
Why do you have Security Scanners?
Our investment in the latest security screening technology is an example of how we continually look to make your journey safer and simpler.
Our new security scanners have hugely improved our passenger experience. The scan only takes a matter of seconds and is completely safe. And, don’t worry, it doesn’t take an image of your body.

Children aren’t exempt from screening. If over 1m, children should use the Security Scanners as part of the security process. Should you require further assistance, please follow instructions from our Security Officers.
A Security Officer will assist you when using the scanner. Simply walk into the scanner and stand as the image in front of you shows. It’s quick and easy to use and only takes a few seconds. Once you’re done, carry on through to collect your belongings and into Departures.
Security Scanners generate a gender-neutral outline of a passenger’s body, rather than an actual image so it is impossible to identify individuals.
Security Scanners are required at all airports in line with Department for Transport and CAA regulations. They are used to locate objects concealed under clothing, and are quicker and less intrusive than hand searches. A hand search will only take place if the scanner identifies areas that need further investigation. If you are selected for a hand search, our Security Officers will assist you.
