About Bucharest
With over 1.7 million people living in Bucharest — Romania’s most populous city — the capital comes alive with an influential culture felt all over the country.
Bucharest is a rising star for spa and wellness holidays, offering world-class facilities at a fraction of the cost of major European hubs. Home to Therme Bucureşti — one of Europe’s largest indoor wellness complexes — it’s an ideal spot for those seeking spa wellness holidays that blend luxury, relaxation, and fun.
Enjoy a touch of nature at the Dimitrie Brândză Botanical Garden northwest of the city. It’s named after a Romanian biologist born near Suceava whose namesake can be spotted in local flower classification. And with the Curtea Veche palace in the city centre and an Arcul de Triumf reminiscent of the Paris arch, Romanian history comes alive wherever you go.
Choose to go big or small with your historical hotspots: tour all 1,100 rooms in the Palatul Parlamentului government building, or stop at the cosy 17th century Coltei Church. Want to explore outside Bucharest? Take a three-hour drive to Bran Castle near Brasov, commonly known as Dracula’s Castle.
Fly from London Luton Airport to Bucharest in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
