Iasi

Romania's cultural and educational hub, Iasi is known for its historic architecture, charming cobblestone streets, and vibrant arts scene.

About Iași

With official records from as early as 1408, Iași is one of the oldest cities in Romania. It’s also the third most-populated city in Romania, behind Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

Count over 100 churches as you walk around the city. Will you see the inspiring 17th-century St. Paraschiva Metropolitan Cathedral, the formidable Trei Ierahi Church, or the Cetățuia Monastery?

Iași is also said to be built on seven hills. Climb the Copou Hill to visit Iași's Botanical Gardens. They’re the oldest and biggest botanical gardens in the country, with over 60 species of plants. And as the sun sets, enjoy a lively evening at one of the many bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Stay close to the main street — Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt — for plenty of nightlife options.

Iași has a fascinating character due to its proximity to Moldova. Just eight miles away from the border, it’s easy to pair your trip to Iași with a visit to Chisinau.

Fly from London Luton Airport to Iași in 3 hours and 15 minutes.
