Travelling to destinations that have featured in well-known TV shows and films, or set-jetting, is on the up. Research found that one in six Brits would like to go on holiday to visit sets from their favourite shows – the perfect travel inspo!

Paris, France

The home of Emily in Paris, there are countless film locations across the French capital to be explored from this quirky fashion series. From the well-known Louvre, Pont Neuf Bridge, and the Jardin du Palais Royal to more unassuming spots like the home of fictional marketing agency Savoir, and Rue de l’Abreuvoir (the road that leads to the end).

Taormina, Sicily

Just 50 minutes outside of the city of Catania, is the stunning hilltop town of Taormina. The second series of The White Lotus was filmed across Sicily but Taormina takes pole position; the town’s 14th century former monastery San Domenico Palace features as the main hotel. The spectacular surrounding coastline and ancient Greek Theatre also make an appearance and are a must-visit.

Vilnius, Lithuania

The capital city of Lithuania; Vilnius is bursting with art and history. It’s also home to Lukiškės Prison which was where Hopper was kept captive in Season 4 of Stranger Things. The now-defunct prison is open for guided tours and frequently holds live music events. That’s not all though! Vilnius was also one of the main filming locations for the series Chernobyl. A suburb just north of the city centre, Fabioniškės, was transformed to recreate the town of Pripyat where the nuclear disaster happened.

Bucharest, Romania

It might be Romania’s capital but in this TV series it’s appeared as Paris, Barcelona and Moscow. We are of course talking about the award-winning Killing Eve! The Romanian Athenaeum became a restaurant in Moscow, Bazinul Dinamo was a swimming pool in Barcelona, and suburbs of Bucharest doubled as suburbs of Paris. And if you’re willing to take a 50-minute drive out of the city, you can head to the tranquil Lake Snagov where Konstantin’s house was located.

Knebworth, Hertfordshire, England

If you’re travelling to London, or just want to visit somewhere closer to home then there’s nowhere better than the incredible Knebworth House in Hertfordshire. The stately home has hosted countless TV and film productions over the years from Batman (and Batman Begins) to The Crown and Paddington 2. But more recently it featured as ‘Hampsie’, a countryside getaway for the rich and famous, in You.

Glencoe, Scotland

With its breath-taking and rugged scenery, understandably Glencoe has been home to several impressive blockbuster productions. Iconic shots of 007 and M in James Bond’s Skyfall show the vast valley, and in the Harry Potter films Hagrid’s Hut is situated on a hillside. If you visit, make sure you’re prepared – it’s not known as the Outdoor Capital of the UK for nothing! The picturesque village is just under a 2-hour drive from Glasgow Airport.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

The famous coastal city of Dubrovnik is well-known for its links with Game of Thrones. With fantastic weather, food and views why wouldn’t you go and explore! After visiting the GoT hotspots in the walled city, head north to visit Trsteno Arboretum, which appeared as the palace gardens of King’s Landing, for the ultimate tranquil escapade.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland’s capital is well-known for being the birthplace of the RMS Titanic but it’s also home to several filming locations of Derry Girls. Visit Smithfield Market where the teens bought their prom dresses, John Long’s aka Fionnuala’s Fish and Chips, and walk by St Mary’s University College where many of the school scenes were filmed. And if you’re really a Derry Girls fan, you could make the trip from Belfast to Derry for even more film locations!
