Join us for Airspace and Noise Week
From the 14th to the 17th of October 2024.
This event is open to the public and designed for anyone interested in learning more about London Luton Airport’s (LLA) operations.This event will feature a range of topics and expert speakers, including insights into how LLA operates daily, information about the Noise Insulation Scheme, and an overview of future airspace changes, all presented by the Flight Operations Team.
Additionally, there will be presentations from the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) regarding Air Traffic Control at LLA and you will also hear directly from pilots operating at LLA.
The Airspace and Noise Week offers an opportunity to engage with professionals, ask questions, and deepen your understanding of the operations of one of the UK’s busiest airports.

LLA Operations
The Flight Operations Team will give an insight on how the airport operates such as the Westerly and Easterly Noise Preferential Routes (NPR’s), the Noise Monitoring Programme and the restrictions and limits LLA has in place to minimise noise for the community.South Luton Operations
This session will focus on the South Luton operations specifically. The Flight Operations team will present aircraft tracks and explain the associated procedures.Luton Operations (ATC Perspective)
This session will be presented by NATS controllers from LLA tower. We will also have speakers from NATS at Swanick. They will give an insight into how they control air traffic and ensure safe and efficient operations in the UK. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the role NATS play in air traffic control.Community Trust Fund
The Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation will speak about the available grants for projects that bring benefit to people living in Luton, Central Bedfordshire, North Herts District, Stevenage, St. Albans District or the Aylesbury Vale District. Information on how to apply will also be given on the day.Future Airspace Changes
The Flight Operations team will speak about the Government’s wider airspace modernization strategy known as Future Airspace Strategy Implementation – South (FASI-S). The team will also give an overview of the process of conducting an airspace change (CAP1616).Luton Operations (Pilot Perspective)
