Noise Action Plan
Under the Environmental Noise (England) Regulations 2006, Airports above a certain size are required to produce a Noise Action Plan designed to manage noise issues and effects arising from aircraft departing from and arriving at the airport.
This plan details our actions over a five-year period (2019-2023) and the policy framework that would support these actions. It is aligned with London Luton Airport’s S106 Legal Agreement (2014) with Luton Council which outlines how the airport’s operation, growth and environmental impacts will be managed responsibly and laid the foundation of our Noise Action Plan.
Under the Environmental Noise (England) regulations 2006, airports above a certain size are required to produce a Noise Action Plan designed to manage noise issues and effects arising from aircraft departing from and arriving at the airport.
The most recent plan will continue to be over 5 years (2024-2028) however this is still currently in draft format. The Department for Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), have approved our plan, but we are awaiting minister sign-off from government. Due to the general election being called in July 2024 there may be a delay to these decisions and therefore publishing in draft format gives airports the opportunity to work on the targets set within the plan and proactively work on ways to reduce noise and impacts on our community.
