LLA and the Environment

LLA is committed to continuously reviewing the airport's environmental performance and looks to minimise and manage the effects. To do this, we work to an Environmental Management System (EMS). Our Environmental Policy sets out our key strategies and goals.

We have a rigorous programme of Air Quality monitoring that helps us work out the airport’s contribution to local air emissions. We’ve recently linked our programme results to the data of surrounding Local Authorities and you can view their monthly online report.

LLA is committed to continously improving its energy managament and performance, and in turn reducing our greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). We strive to improve energy efficiency within our direct operations and work with stakeholders to reduce our indirect emissions.

LLA is the fifth busiest airport in the UK and we know that the travel choices people make when getting to and from the airport can have a big impact on the environment. That’s why we’re championing the use of public transport for all our customers and staff.

LLA is committed to addressing Environmental, Social and Goverenance (ESG) issues facing our business and our stakeholders. As a community-owned airport, we are determined to serve the needs of the community whilst reducing our impact on the environment and improving the economy and social fabric of our community.
